Commercial Compost Haulers Permit
Commercial compost haulers require a permit to access the City's compost depots.
The cost of the program is $150 per vehicle. Registration provides access to the West Compost Depot at Highway 7 and the East Compost Depot off Highway 5 (see restrictions for vehicle types not permitted) from mid-spring to early November. A trailer does not require separate registration. This registration is not refundable.
The East Compost Depot is a temporary transfer site that collects and transfers residential material to the west location for composting. For this reason, commercial dump trucks and tip trailers are not permitted. Commercial customers must haul directly to the West Compost Depot at Highway 7.
The West Compost Depot open 7 days a week from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The East Compost Depot open 5 days a week (Thursday through Monday) from11:00am to 5:00pm
During April 15 to August 30 the East Compost Depot open extended hours on Thursdays from 11:00am to 7:00pm.
Permits for second (or more) vehicles must be added separately, along with the license plate.
A decal will be provided at either compost depot on first visit. Please bring your proof of purchase.
If, at some time in the future, a subsequent vehicle is to be added, you must download and fill out the pdf form and take it to City Hall for payment. Please put your current permit numbers on the form for faster processing.
Accepted material include: grass, leaves, branches, logs, stumps, roots, sod and topsoil.
Food waste is not accepted at the compost depots.
All other feedstock materials require approval; call Waste Stream Management at 306-975-3183. Elm is not accepted at any time.
You may also register at City Hall, or by mailing in a cheque and registration form.
